Perhaps you have never been out of your Victorian lifestyle? Here is an opportunity to step back into the year 1872. Old Town San Diego State Historic Park is hosting a Victorian Tea Party with entertainment, "The Gracious Mrs. Robinson Will Be Receiving Her Guests." Costumed performers from California State Parks will transport you to a holiday scene as would have been experienced at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in the 1870s. Comedy, parlor games, recitations, music, and interaction with the actors will enliven this 90 minute theatre experience. In addition, the food will include delicious cakes, cookies, sandwiches and scones. naturally there will be several kinds of tea, chocolate and bouillon, served by a staff that will be making sly comments and observations on the "High Society" of 1870s San Diego. The gracious Mrs. Sarah Robinson, widow of the late District Attorney James Robinson, will be hostess, ably assisted by her neighbors, Mrs. Winnie McCoy and Mrs. Mary Morse. Mr. Joshua Sloane will provide his usual antics and we have been promised a visit from that noted international circus performer, Mr. Omar Kingsley, who has a secret that he may share.
